Welcome to IntergenicDB!
IntergenicDB is a database wich contains sequences of DNA known as intergenic regions (or promoters) of prokaryotes beings.
This database is a result of a study made by Prof. Sheila de Àvila e Silva, from the Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS) entitled "Redes Neurais Artificiais no Reconhecimento de Regiões Promotoras em Bactérias Gram-Negativas". This study investigates the intergenic regions using neural networks, wich are trained by a program to identificate if a given DNA sequence is or is not a promoter region. The IntergenicDB website is a tool that provides an easy way to perform searches and uploads to the IntergenicDB database. The website is a result of the study made by the UCS's students Vanessa Davanzo, Douglas Picolotto, Jovani Dalzochio, Jórdan Rui da Rosa and Camila Rachel Tonin de Andrade, with the guidance of Prof. Daniel Luis Notari and Profa. Scheila de Ávila e Silva.
